The drawings in this series are a conceptual exploration of the effects of melancholia, encompassing both the enlightening and the mundane. I have come to understand that the vital part of melancholia’s gift to me has been the realization that an empathy with life’s pathos must be balanced with a faith in life itself, and most importantly, a sense of humor.
